cThere are many ways to show your music on Youtube. When I started out as a media composer I just picked a photo, added my music to it and rendered it as a video. Yeh, that does the job. It's ok, but let's be honest … it's quite boring to look at. But hold on, Synthesia can change your life!

So let's get creative today. And see how you come from a single photo video with music to an awesome piano roll synthesia music video in minutes.

  • In this guide you'll learn how to split a single piano part into separate hands. This may be necessary when working with songs you found elsewhere or created yourself. Most MIDI editors focus on the final output quality of the sound. So the internal grouping of notes is often overlooked, combining the piano into a single part.
  • I worked really hard to make this transcription, it's not perfect though, i'll post a better version in the future.Performance link: https://www.youtube.com/.

Windows XP/Vista Windows Installer (2.4 MB exe) Stand-alone Zip (2.3 MB zip) Mac OS X 10.4 or later Universal Package (2.5 MB dmg).

What you need to create Synthesia music videos

These three things are the only thing you need.

How To Create A Synthesia Piano Tutorial Step By Step

First of all you'll need Synthesia. Which is a software program that can help you learn to play the piano. You can try it out for free. You can download it here.

Secondly, you will need some sort of software to record your screen and edit videos. I use Screenflow for screen recording and editing, but if you're on a tight budget and you're working on a Mac. Canvas draw 2 0 186 download free. QuickTime for screen recording and imovie for editing will do the job for you.

Third and last, you'll need a MIDI version of your music track. You probably know already how to do that. You can easily export a MIDI version out of Apple's logic or any other DAW.

Let's create: follow this easy roadmap

Open Synthesia and start adding your MIDI files. Click settings, song and then the plus symbol. Locate the folder on your computer where you store your MIDI files and add it. Go back to the opening screen.

When you go to Play a Song you'll see your MIDI tracks in the list. Select the one you want and press continue.

At this moment you need to start your screen recording software. Just record your screen, no audio. We will add the audio, actually the music track, later on in the process.

When you've started your screen recording, press continue in Synthesia and start the Piano roll animation. Enjoy the falling MIDI blocks. You gotta love those MIDI blocks. I surely love those MIDI blocks!

When the animation has ended, you can stop the screen recording and save it. Now open your video editing software and add the screen recording, a background picture, your music file and create (if you like) some title blocks.

You have to make two adjustments at this point.

First you need to change the opacity of the screen recording or background picture (depends on which is positioned at the foreground). Adjust this setting to your needs so both are visible and blend in nice.

Secondly you have to sync the MIDI blocks with your music. If they aren't synced well, it kinda looks stupid. Duh … Find the exact position where the MIDI blocks touch the piano roll for the first time. At that moment your music track needs to start. Check if they are synced correctly.
